I have determined that the idea relating to a chronological "through the looking-glass" approach is conceptually the strongest, and will therefore pursue only this idea. I will continue to use only elements found in the original collage to promote the notion of a visual representation of the unconcious mind as expressed through hallucinogenic and psychedelic drugs. As previously mentioned, I was inspired by the lyrics to Eric's Trip (from the album Daydream Nation, 1988) by Sonic Youth, in particular;
.
"I can't see anything at all / all I see is me"
.
Therefore, I decided to place the head of the main figure over the top of each face seen within the work. I also placed the head within the frame, the polaroid and the television screen on the bottom right. I feel that this device contributes to a slightly uneasy atmosphere, and continues with the dream-like conception of recurring motifs; revised and reworked internally, the same but different, with a base on reality, yet still un-real.
.
I also attempted to reiterate and take further the "WILD AT HEART" text and idea. This was intended as an echo and as a statement, also depicted in the repeating and re-sizing of the lips placed representing the heart. I eliminated all other text (aside from "BANG BANG" being spoken from the heart of the central figure" and replaced it with "WILD AT HEART". In addition to this, I adjusted the colour and size of the mass-produced heart found within the frame in the original image, and converted it into a recurring motif relating to the text. This can be most noted within the speech bubble protruding from the anthropomorphic figure with a gun for a head, and an ironic t-shirt, as instead of saying "ULTRA-VIOLENCE" as in the manual collage, it now only expresses a heart.
.
The repeating of texture in the background relates to familiar elements appearing somewhat altered.
